Due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in our area, Berryton UMC is suspending in-person worship beginning this Sunday, November 15. This decision has been approved by the Administrative Council, and is in agreement with both the guidelines of the Shawnee County Health Department and the recommendation of Bishop Saenz and the Great Plains Conference of the UMC.
This Sunday, the 10:00 Service will still be broadcast over the local FM radio in the church parking lot, and it will be live-streamed on Facebook. The Administrative Council will be meeting in the next week to make our plans for the weeks ahead, including Advent. We will also be re-evaluating our building usage guidelines. The Shawnee County Health Department has restricted gatherings to 10 or fewer, and we are choosing to continue to abide by those guidelines.
Like many things in this year, this was not a decision we wanted to make. And yet, we trust the words of Jesus when he promised his disciples, “Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” I pray that you feel that presence with you, especially in these difficult days.
Grace and Peace to you,
