CALL TO WORSHIP

One: Your steadfast love, O lord, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds.

All: Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your judgments are like the great deep; O Lord, humans and animals you save!

One: O God, how precious is your steadfast love! All people may take refuge in the shadow of your wings.

All: They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights.

One: For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light.

All: O continue your steadfast love to those who know you, and your salvation to the upright of heart!

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

Will you please join me in affirming our faith with An Affirmation from I Corinthians 15: 1-16 And Colossians 1:15-20?

This is the good news which we have received, in which we stand, and by which we are saved:

Christ died for our sins, was buried, was raised on the third day, and appeared first to the women, then to Peter and the Twelve, and then to many faithful witnesses.

We believe Jesus is the Christ, the Anointed One of God, the firstborn of all creation, the firstborn from the dead, in whom all things hold together, in whom the fullness of God was pleased to dwell by the power of the Spirit.

Christ is the head of the body, the church, and by the blood of the cross reconciles all things to God. Amen.

SCRIPTURE READING

One evening, David got up from his couch and was pacing back and forth on the roof of the palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing; the woman was very beautiful. David sent someone and inquired about the woman. The report came back: “Isn’t this Eliam’s daughter Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?
