One: And now, Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you.

All: Deliver me from all my transgressions. Make me not the scorn of the fool!

One: I am mute I do not open my mouth; for it is you have done it.

All: Remove your stroke from me; I am spent by the blows of your hand.

One: When you chasten people with rebukes for sin, you consume like a moth what is dear to them; surely every human being is an empty breath!

All: Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear to my cry; hold not your peace at my tears!

One: For I am your passing guest, a sojourner, like all my forebears.

All: Look away from me, that I may know gladness, before I depart and am no more!”

Will you please join me in affirming our faith with An Affirmation from I Corinthians 15: 1-16 And Colossians 1:15-20?

This is the good news which we have received, in which we stand, and by which we are saved:

Christ died for our sins, was buried, was raised on the third day, and appeared first to the women, then to Peter and the Twelve, and then to many faithful witnesses.

We believe Jesus is the Christ, the Anointed One of God, the firstborn of all creation, the firstborn from the dead, in whom all things hold together, in whom the fullness of God was pleased to dwell by the power of the Spirit.

Christ is the head of the body, the church, and by the blood of the cross reconciles all things to God. Amen.

Proverbs 16:20-24

Those with insight find prosperity;those who trust the LORD are blessed. The skilled mind is called discerning, and pleasant speech enhances teaching. One who has insight is a fountain of life, but the instruction of the foolish is folly. The mind of the wise makes their speech insightfuland enhances the teaching of their lips. Pleasant words are flowing honey, sweet to the taste and healing to the bones.

1 Peter 4:8-11

Above all, show sincere love to each other, because love brings about the forgiveness of many sins. Open your homes to each other without complaining. And serve each other according to the gift each person has received, as good managers of God’s diverse gifts. Whoever speaks should do so as those who speak God’s word. Whoever serves should do so from the strength that God furnishes. Do this so that in everything God may be honored through Jesus Christ. To him be honor and power forever and always. Amen.

One: This is the word of God for the people of God.
All: Thanks be to God.
