CALL TO WORSHIP
L: Come, let us celebrate the forgiving, reconciling love of God.
P: For once we were lost and felt so far away;
now we have been found and welcomed home.
L: Know that God’s love is lavished upon you forever.
P: We rejoice at the news of forgiveness and hope!
L: Come, let us celebrate and praise the God of Love.
Prayer of the People
Will you please join me in affirming our faith through prayer?
O God, just as we look into a mirror to see any soiled spots on our face,
so let us look at you in order to understand the things we have done apart from your will. We are like a reed shaken in the wind, and we are so very weak.
Leave us not to ourselves, but dwell in our hearts and guide our thoughts and actions. Amen.
SCRIPTURE READING Matthew 18:21-22, Luke 17:3-4
Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”
Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times. So watch yourselves.
“If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”
RESPONSE TO SCRIPTURE
One: This is the word of God for the people of God.
